If you’re a teen, pregnancy might not be on your radar as a reason to explain the weird things happening to your body. Maybe you’ve noticed some weird symptoms. You might be wondering, why am I so tired lately, or where are these dizzy spells coming from? And then your period is late. Oh man, could I be pregnant?

Some typical early symptoms of pregnancy include:

  • Missed period
  • Nausea/vomiting
  • Dizziness
  • Breast changes/tenderness
  • Frequent urination
  • Appetite changes
  • Fatigue
  • Weight gain or loss

The trouble is, some of these can be a normal part of your menstrual cycle symptoms, or can be caused by other factors such as stress or illness. But once pregnancy has crossed your mind, it is difficult to think of anything else until you get an answer.

You can pick up a pregnancy test (or four) at the dollar store, and follow the instructions and wait anxiously in your bathroom at home or you can come see us at Gateway and talk to our nurse and someone who can talk you through this.

Gateway can provide free lab-quality pregnancy tests and limited ultrasound for qualified clients. You will have the opportunity to talk through all that you’re feeling with a trained advocate in a quiet and confidential setting. We can educate you on your options, and talk with you about what to expect.

So take a minute, take a breath, and make a call. It’s that easy. You’ve got this. Gateway has got your back.
