Planning an abortion? Know the facts.

When you are planning an abortion, we believe you will receive the best pre-abortion care by coming to Gateway Women’s Care.

Choosing an abortion clinic?

If you are looking for a clinic, here’s some questions to guide your search.  As with any woman’s health issue, you have the right to know these facts…

  • If my pregnancy turns out to be ectopic or non-viable, will I be informed? Will I be charged for abortion services or have other fees?
  • What are the client reviews of this clinic? Does this clinic have a good reputation?
  • Will I be allowed to view the ultrasound if I choose to do so?
  • What type of sedation will the clinic administer during my procedure?
  • If I change my mind, what fees am I required to pay for consultations/labs/ultrasound?
  • What is my doctor’s name?
  • Is my doctor a certified OB/GYN?
  • Does my doctor have any malpractice or disciplinary actions against him/her? (Health Grades is a useful site to research a physician’s background.)
  • Does my doctor have liability insurance in case of any errors in my care so that I don’t have to worry about medical bills resulting from their mistakes?
  • Does my doctor have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital in case of an emergency with my procedure?

Considering the Abortion Pill?

The FDA has included a “Black Box Warning” on the Mifeprex (RU486 Abortion Pill) labeling and package insert.  Black box warnings are required by the FDA for prescriptions that have potentially fatal, life-threatening, or disabling adverse effects. 14  This is the most serious warning that the FDA assigns to a medication.

The abortion pill will not end an ectopic pregnancy. Overlooking an ectopic pregnancy may result in serious complications. An ultrasound at Gateway Women’s Care can rule out this risk.
