REPRODUCTIVE COERCION IS ILLEGAL

It is not only wrong, it is illegal in all 50 states to coerce or force anyone to get an abortion. If someone is trying to make you get an abortion, reach out today for free support. If the threat is immediate, call 911 for immediate help. The law recognizes you as the unborn baby’s mother, even if you are under 18, and only you have the right to decide to have the baby or get an abortion. Your parents, boyfriend, or friends can not make you have an abortion.

SPEAK OUT AGAINST FORCED ABORTION

Studies are showing that 24% of post-abortive women said they did not want the abortion. You are not alone! You have the right to support, not force, as you face an already difficult situation.

STOP FORCED ABORTION

Warning signs of forced or coerced abortion are:

  • Verbal attacks- “You couldn’t take care of a puppy, much less a baby!”
  • Name calling or insults- “You’re so stupid.”
  • Threats to leave you
  • Threats to withdraw financial support
  • Threats to kick you out of your home
  • Commands like “I scheduled an appointment and you are going.”
  • Statements like “You don’t have a choice” or “You don’t get a choice.”
  • Manipulative language like “If you make me keep this child when I’m not ready I will kill myself.”
  • Accusations like “You’re being selfish to think about keeping it.”
  • Threats to harm you physically
  • Aggressive behavior like shouting and throwing things
  • Any physical abuse- slapping, shoving, intimidation, etc.
  • Telling you to hide the situation or be secluded from your support system
