Not only are men allowed to come with you to your visit to Gateway Women’s Care, we encourage it! We know that a partner can be just as confused or nervous about a potential pregnancy as a woman. That’s why we have guys here that men can talk to. When you come to Gateway Women’s Care for an appointment, we encourage you to bring the father of the baby. He will be there not only to show support for you but to get some support for himself. We will always treat you with respect, and we will listen carefully to your concerns and help you figure out possible solutions to the issues you are facing.

As the father of the baby, one should know:

  • You have a right to state your feelings about the pregnancy but not to force those thoughts on your partner.
  • She needs you! She needs you to listen, to be supportive, and to be emotionally available. Don’t close yourself off from her, keep talking together!

Abortion is not just a women’s issue. For men who are staring an abortion decision in the face, it is not a decision to be made lightly or without considering the possible implications. Men involved in an abortion procedure can experience long-term, life-changing consequences.

These repercussions often arise as a delayed reaction occurring about five years after the abortion.
